Scholarships of $500 to $1,000 are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students. Scholarships from the Foundation are awarded on the basis of financial need, academic ability and career interest. For the 2012-2013 Academic Year $13,000 in scholarships will be available.
The scholarship program is funded by proceeds of invested funds donated to the Foundation by the TSHP membership, friends and corporate supporters.
All students receiving a scholarship have expressed an interest in a career in organized health-care settings.
2012 – 2013 Academic Year Scholarship Program
The deadline for submitting applications for the 2012-2013 academic year is March 5, 2012. Applicants will be notified of the decision of the Board of Directors by the end of April, 2012.
APPLICATION RULES
- Submit the following to the TSHP R&E Foundation by March 5, 2012.
- Completed application form
- Letter of application explaining how you meet the scholarship criteria, your future pharmacy practice goals, and your philosophy of pharmacy practice.
- Copy of your latest grade report verifying your current G.P.A.
- Proof of residency requirements for El Paso, Gene Lake, and Central Texas Scholarships
- Three letters of reference. These should utilize the reference form that can be downloaded (see below) and may include additional information in letter form. The individuals providing the references can give you these documents in PDF or other electronic format to be uploaded with your application, or they may send the information directly to foundation@tshp.org using the subject line: “Reference for (your name)”
- All required application materials must be submitted by the deadline, incomplete applications may not be considered.
- The TSHP R&E Foundation Scholarship Committee will determine selection of scholarship recipients. All decisions are final.
- Scholarship recipients must provide a photograph and short biography for publication in the TSHP R&E Foundation Newsletter prior to distribution of scholarship monies.
